 Elma Laporte, Ar’textile

I started with patchwork, I learned it, then I taught it for several years. After that, I had training in classical embroidery, which let me become much freer with my creations today. I supplement the use of fibres, fabrics, wool and various natural materials with paper and metallic foils, with the goal of being both more experimental and more creative. I am self-taught, however I have attended various training courses for almost thirty years, making it possible for me to gain solid knowledge and mastery of a wide range of techniques.

Activities and Philosophy
I now live in the imagination; these are my thoughts that I translate into paintings, sculptures and objects that express what I feel; the space of a moment that lasts the whole time of its implementation. Each piece produced is unique and is a “challenge”, often requiring a new technique appropriate to itself. I am not trying to present an image but rather an idea, a feeling or mood. The materials, colours and shapes are now the outcome of my work.
