 Michel Labat, Painter

Background and activities
At the very beginning of my biography, I started by being born in the last century ... Learning the art of painting was done at the school in the Place des Vosges in Paris, followed by education with Dandon and Penninghen, and to finish, a course at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Destined to be a professor of art, after two years of teaching I decided to devote myself to my painting. I opened studios successively in the Paris area then near Antibes, in Upper Normandy and finally Issigeac, at the same time as the 1999 storm ... Of course I participated in many exhibitions over the years.

My work starts first with drawings. The use of pure colours lets me use all backings: canvas, wood or glass, with the creation of sculptures at the same time. What fascinates me: today, not my past ... down to earth, the body in water, head in the stars and the stomach in duck breast!
